Injectables

Enhance your natural features with the most natural-looking results using injectable treatments like neurotoxins and dermal fillers.

Neurotoxins

Botox and Dysport

Neurotoxins work by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces the muscle activity that causes the formation of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. When these muscles are relaxed, the wrinkles and lines improve and will continue to improve over time. This treatment is safe and effective when performed by an experienced and qualified healthcare professional.

Neurotoxins are an excellent option for patients who are looking to achieve a more youthful look without the commitment of plastic surgery.

The three FDA approved and most commonly treated areas are:

  • Glabella (Vertical Frown Lines between the eyebrows)

  • Crow’s Feet (Lines around the eyes)

  • Frontalis (Horizontal lines across the forehead)

  • Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications for one week before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  • Schedule your Neurotoxin appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from Neurotoxin injections can take up to 2 weeks for full results. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.
  • Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.
  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area(s) to be treated.
  • If you have a history of cold sores please let your provider know, they may put you on an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.
  • Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of light-headedness during your treatment.
  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • You are not a candidate if you are on Accutane or have been on Accutane for the last six months.

*There may be additional Pre/Post care recommendations/instructions that your provider may discuss with you.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your provider.

In order to decrease the risk of potential side effects:

  • Do NOT manipulate the treated area for 6 hours following treatment. Do NOT receive facials, microdermabrasions, or laser treatments after Neurotoxin injections for at least 10 days. Ask your provider if you are not sure about the time frame of certain services.
  • Do NOT lie down for 6 hours or get a massage for 24 hours after your Neurotoxin treatment. This will prevent the Neurotoxin from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing drooping eyelid.
  • It can take up to two weeks for full results to be seen.  You will be scheduled for a follow up visit at this time.  You and your provider will determine if the desired result was achieved.  Should a touchup be necessary, you will be charged for the amount of product used.
  • Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 24-48 hours after treatment. This will keep the Neurotoxin in the injected area and not elsewhere.

*There may be additional Pre/Post care recommendations/instructions that your provider may discuss with you.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your provider.

Dermal Fillers

All fillers used at Ascend are Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers.  Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body.  The role of HA in the body is to deliver nutrients and keep your skin flexible, retaining its natural moisture and softness.  The gel formulation also contains a small amount of lidocaine (anesthetic) which helps minimize discomfort during injection.  Ascend practitioners thrive on restoring your skin volume, improving your self-confidence, and delivering a natural look to meet your desired outcomes.

There are a variety of services that can be done with these types of products. Some services include:

Cheek enhancement, under cheek hollowness, lip filler/lip augmentation, volume loss restoration, jawline rejuvenation, profile enhancement, chin shaping/chin augmentation, upper lip lines, hand rejuvenation, and so much more!

  • If you have a history of cold sores, please inform your provider prior to treatment. The doctor will need to write a prescription to pre-treat to eliminate the chances of you developing a cold sore post treatment.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications one week prior to treatment. Medications such as: Aspirin, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil Supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  • Schedule your appointment at least 2-4 weeks prior to a special event, such as a wedding or a vacation due to risk of bruising and swelling post treatment.
  • Reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if you have a severe rash, cold sore or blemish in the treatment area.
  • Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink, before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.
  • Consider taking Arnica tablets 1 week prior to injections to prevent bruising (Usage: Dispense 5 pellets under your tongue 3 times a day).
  • You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • You are not a candidate if you are on Accutane or have been on Accutane for the last six months.

  • Avoid massaging/manipulating the treated area for 24-72 hours following treatment (unless instructed by your provider).
  • Do NOT consume excess amounts of alcohol or sodium to avoid excess swelling.
  • If you have swelling, you may apply a cool compress lightly for 5-10 minutes each hour (5 mins over eyes) and take Tylenol to ease any discomfort.
  • We recommend sleeping on your back and slightly elevated.
  • Avoid dental work for 2 weeks after filler injections.
